Whitney Houston released her first album in seven years I Look To You on August 31st and followed that up with a performance on Good Morning America. She looks great. Whitney recognized that her voice was not up to par. According to reports she said “I’m so sorry. I did ‘Oprah.’ I’ve been talking for so long. … I talked so much, my voice. I shouldn’t be talking. I should be singing.”

Nerves, excuses and explanations aside, it’s obvious her voice has changed. I wonder was it too much too soon for Whitney or do we expect too much from her? I’ll let you be the judge. I do remain supportive as was the audience for her performance and I hope the message of her getting her life back in order is not lost in critiques of her performance.

Let’s check out the video. After a brief interview Whitney performed Million Dollar Bill. In a touching moment Whitney acknowledges her mother Cissy as she sings I Look To You. Then daughter Bobbi Kristina joins her on stage as she sings My Love Is Your Love. Whitney will appear on Oprah on Monday, September 14th.
