Listen To The Chrisette Michele “Epiphany” Sampler
Our girl Chrisette Michele will release her sophomore album Epiphany on May 5. From the sounds of it, there will be no sophomore jinx with this one. Listen for yourself. The sampler below includes full versions of Epiphany[video] and Notebook, plus snippets of All I Ever Think About, What You Do and Blame It On Me.
I talked to Chrisette about maintaining her individuality on a major label before her debut album I Am was released. After hearing the album, I felt she had done just that and I continued to sing her praises. In 2009 she won a Grammy (Best Urban/Alternative Performance for Be OK). She seemed to find that balance between satisfying true soul fans and appealing to more mainstream tastes. I admit to being a little worried after reading in Essence Magazine that there were more “club bangers” on her upcoming album. I’m not as worried now but I wonder if “Epiphany” will shoot Chrisette’s star further into the mainstream stratosphere (if anyone deserves to be there it’s Chrisette) or will she always be our (soul) girl? What do you think?

Chrisette is my GIRL!!! Definitely can’t wait until May for this album! Is it me or does there seem to be a little bit of a resurgence in the soul movement! Lots of artists droppin’ albums and touring… getting mo’ love than usual…Not quite to late 90’s/early 2000 level… but better than in recent years. :)
