India.Arie Drops Some Pearls On Tavis Smiley

India.Arie dropped some pearls of wisdom and song on the Tavis Smiley show during her recent visit. She speaks on not feeling good about a collaboration she did with an artist (*cough*Akon*cough*) for commercial reasons instead of creative reasons, how the Grammy shut out of her first album shaped her life, and how what’s happening in her life affects her voice. India and Tavis also exchange their personal mission statements and clarify the difference between respect and recognition. India closes out the interview by singing an acoustic version of Pearls from her fourth studio album Testimony: Vol. 2. Love & Politics. This was a wonderful interview. I really enjoyed it and think you will too.

India is incredible! She is wise beyond her 33 years and extremely talented. Can’t wait until she comes to Charlotte on May 6! I already have my tickets! Keeping on dropping “pearls” India!
