RIP Christopher George Latore Wallace (May 21, 1972 – March 9, 1997). Nobody’s done it like you. Today marks the anniversary of Notorious B.I.G.’s death. I thought it would be nice to hear some of his music from a different perspective. Hopefully a bit later I’ll have a link to another B.I.G. mixtape with some new remixes.
A few weeks ago I was on twitter posting up old soul samples from hip hop artists Tupac, The Geto Boys, Biggie etc. Now I’m fairly good at identifying samples but if “Biggie samples” were a category on Jeopardy I would have been standing there with my thumb up my…uhhh, with my thumb over the button, staring at Trebek with my mouth open because I didn’t know the multitude of samples he’d used on his albums. Luckily I am a Google champion and found this mixtape of Biggie samples on Urban Daily mixed by DJ Parler plus “Life After Death” samples from Kevin Nottingham [download].
