Esperanza Spalding Falls Into The Gap

Bassist/vocalist extraordinaire Esperanza Spalding was a child prodigy and a professor at the prestigious Berklee School of Music at age 20. She released her first album Junjo in 2006. Her second album Esperanza [iTunes], released in 2008 garnered more praise from around the world and is a personal favorite of mine that stays on repeat. Esperanza Spalding will take part in the new City Stories campaign for the The Gap Inc. brand Banana Republic. The ad campaign which started on February 18 will also feature acoustic singer Ayo, jazz saxophonist David Sanchez, Sara Bareilles, Liz Phair, OK Go, Tommy Torres, David Garrett, and Chris Carrabba. This should be some great exposure for these artists.

Banana Republic stores will offer it’s customers free compilation CD’s by the nine artists. Customers who purchase items between February 17-26 will receive an iTunes coupon for the first compilation. The second compilation will be available from May 12-26. The Banana Republic website will offer video podcasts and videos that can be embedded on Facebook or sent to user’s friends. The City Stories content will also appear on Red, Virgin America’s in-flight entertainment system, making Banana Republic the first marketer with it’s own branded channel.

Is it weird that I ended up taking like 100photos of her at one of her live shows, and I can’t seem to bring myself to delete the blurry ones. Its too much that she is incredibly talented, but also classically beautiful?
(my job was to photograph the show, not stalk her, I promise)

Al, of course you weren’t stalking her *wink wink* lol. There are giant posters of her in Banana Republic right now so have you been “shopping” lol. Seriously, I agree with you. She’s beautiful and talented.
