R.I.P To Our Godfather of Soul, James Brown 1933 – 2006

James Brown, The Godfather of Soul

I’m deeply saddened to report that James Brown, the Godfather of Soul has died at the age of 73.

Condolences to his family and loved ones. His impact was so great on so many. Many will be saddened by his passing but he did so much with his God given gift. I’m grateful to have experienced his presence. He touched my life and all of ours. He lives on in our hearts, in our minds and through the music.

God Bless James Brown. God Bless us All.

I will forgive you from working on your vacation to report this saddening news.

A complete shock and disappointment to the entire world I can only take comfort in saying that the Godfather is in a now much better place.

I am now popping in my DVD of James Brown: Live at Chastin Park to commemorate this genius’ life.

This came out of NOWHERE!!! This is a TRAGIC loss especially at this time of year….. on Christmas Day. I was talking to a friend about the post I made about the influence of Michael vs. Prince… there is probably NO ARTIST that has had as much influence than James Brown!!! Disco & its offspring, Funk and Hip-Hop were all created off the legacy of James Brown.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! I wasn’t ready to hear this on Christmas morning. One of the world’s greatest entertainers has moved on. He definitely proved himself to be the hardest working man in show business all the way up until he took his last breath. He had such grace and he will be missed, but his “soul” will live on forever…like Elvis with white people.

The Godfather of Soul…may he rest in peace.

And Honey it’s kinda eerie that you said you were taking a break for the holiday and said we wouldn’t hear from you unless there were a “soul emergency”.

This was a serious emergency in the world of soul music.
