Conversation with V

V on HoneySoul.com

Truth is a powerful thing to a soul sweet as honey. For those of you misled by the ‘neo-soul’ moniker, there is still truth within the lie. The production and songwriting energy you felt in the likes of Musiq Soulchild, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Justin Timberlake have manifested themselves in what you will come to know as simply V. This Revelation is Now Televised as sonic rapture that is the essence of Philly Soul’s sound.

I mean, “Who Would I Be” if I didn’t speak to the unified seduction of the likes of Glenn Lewis, Marvin Gaye, and Raphael Saadiq in this brothas sound? Strip down any attempts to conform and you have “Another Phase” of love songs and socially aware vibes that are sure to throb and enthrall your all. Whether you have dreams of Stevie Wonder while jonzin’ to “Would You Be Mine” or an erotic blend of D’Angelo and Prince in the midst of “Still”, V will make his artistry the common thread between them all.

And when it comes to using music as a weapon, V is not shy in the least. Choosing to question the purpose of negativity, he chooses to reveal the unseen side of the world’s mirror. “Picture This” and “Who Would I Be” beautifully render your imagination with scenes of a world where we all looked out for our fellow man.

“Picture this…a world where there is no frustrations cause occupations won’t be greater than the Creator’s plan”

My brothas and sistas… the revolution is here! The revelation is now! The voice is V! Power to the people!

In this conversation V speaks about his past history in music and his future, the connection to Gil Scott-Heron, and talks about what he learned from Jill Scott. We’ll also hear songs from what I feel is one of the best albums of the year, The Revelation Is Now Televised.

V…this man’s music will leave you speechless, which is perfect for listening to him, no need for words, just listen and be pleased. Full of therapy within his melody. Call me an addict, because I’m hooked.

    Hey Honey
It’s Trelly and I just came through to re-visit this interview. Like you, I’m still turning people onto this marvel of a singer that we know to simply be called “V” — so I want to thank you for keeping your archives alive because I enjoyed this more today than I did when I first tuned in.
    Stay blessed lady!
