20 Thoughts on “Conversation with Kim Hill”

  1. May 3rd, 2006 at 8:45 am

I have to say that I was personally upset about the whole BEP/Kimmy Kim situation. Especially, being a fan of their first album & seeing them live with Kimmy on vocals as the unofficial 4th member of the group….. I don’t consider them the same group since that 3rd album dropped.

I just don’t think it was fair for Kimmy to be all over the first album and never get any billing as a member… but this chick on her first album is not only a member, but is more prominent than all but one of the original members…. huh?? Just not right!

Third album? Damn, I have Suga Hill but what was the other? I need that!!! Know where I can get it? I am a huge fan. Her shit is so damn sultry I can’t stand it. “Nutshell” is in heavy rotation ova here…so is “Right Here”- both remix and original. Damn, can’t forget about “Summertime In Aspen” a few years back.

I remember Kim…she was the singer on “Joints & Jams” for the Black Eyed Peas, right? To me, she is better off being a solo artist because the Black Eyed Peas is too pop for her and she’s very eccletic. I like her style.

Kim is definitely a comedian. I’ve seen her a few times in 500 different shows and she always makes me laugh each time. She’s even a comedian on stage. That girl is wild. =)

I was sooooooooooooooooo waiting to hear this interview V it wasn’t funny. She told it all. That song she song about I am hip hop, OMG, V, that’s my ish right there. You know the line in that song I’m talking about I was like, she put it out there with that, lol. when she said you replaced me with…that was the joint, performed live too, that was the joint right there. I liked how she kept it real too, saying she doesn’t do certain things if not in her 5 year plan, but if it came down to eating, yanno! I felt that when she said that. In this industry there are comprimises, and good music, and those oh so great interviewers. I enjoyed this one to death. Thanks V

    Well,
Although people give kim props for “keeping it real.” I don’t think that type of negative energy belongs in the nu soul movement. Leave the dissing to rap music.

Man, Kim Hill’s shows are hella entertaining. And the girl can actually sing live and doesn’t just have a “studio voice”. Do yourself a favor and check her out if she comes anywhere near yo city! She performs around the LA area quite a bit.

To everyone looking for Kim’s CD…Her latest “Pharoah’s Daughter” has not been released as far as I know. Her first CD “Surrender to her Sunflower” is a rare find so try your local record stores that may sell similar artists. “Suga Hill” is available at dustygroove. Kim also has a myspace page. Hope that helps :)
