Conversation with Javier

[Listen to Soul 2 Soul with Javier] [download podcast]

Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Javier’s versatility makes his sound hard to classify. Whether starting a R&B based acappella quintet, leading a neo-funk group (called EmCQ), or being the lead singer for the rock flavored Derek Trucks Band, the Connecticut resident has never been limited in his musical expression. Songs like “Crazy” and “October Sky” from Javier’s 2003 self-titled debut album introduced music fans to his uniquely soulful style and established him as a rising R&B star. In this edition of Soul 2 Soul Javier discusses early music memories, talks about his new CD Left of Center and tell’s us why it’s not the usual R&B staple. Left of Center is in stores now.

Oh snap! Not “Angel in Disguise”? Haven’t heard this song in ages. You caught me out there with that one, Honey.

S2S was off the chain as usual. I love me some Javiar. I have the first CD and saw him in concert when he came through Raleigh,NC opening for Anthony Hamilton. The man can really sing…no backup singers or band. Just him on the stage doing his thang.

On a side note I had to purchase a Rhapsody music service subscription. Man I was spending too much dough on CDs every month, LOL. A sister was spending at least $50-70month! With Rhapsody I can DL and burn as much as I like to my mp3 for $15. Only drawback is they dont have some underground stuff but they do have more than I thought they would.
