Vibe with Me

U.K. composer/pianist/lyricist Robert Mitchell has been called a musical genius. His name is often mentioned in sentences alongside McCoy Tyner and Herbie Hancock. That's wonderful company but I imagine hard to live up to. After listening to his album "Trust" I now understand the association. He's an innovator. While it's hard to call this a jazz album with styles ranging from broken beat to beats I couldn't even begin to categorize, I would just call it great music. Also featured on the album are Eska, Norma Winstone, Deborah Jordan, Ty, Eugene Skeef and Gurdeep Stephens. "Trust" has received stellar reviews and is receiving airplay from musical tastemaker Gilles Peterson. You can hear tracks from that album and other projects on his myspace page.
