Spotlight CD: Pete Belasco - Deeper
If you're looking for something to play for you and your baby on Christmas Eve, this is it! I would definitely say this is mood music...jazzy, lounging, sipping martini kind of music. This is really my type of vibe, seductive and smoothed out and you guessed it...another one of my favorites, LOL. It's perfect for mellowing out if you're stuck in rush hour traffic and it's just as effective for setting an intimate mood.
Jazz saxophonist/pianist Pete Belasco began playing both instruments at an early age. After graduating from Rutgers University, he had a severe boating accident that broke both his hands. He says the time spent healing forced him to develop his songwriting and singing abilities. His first album, the pop/jazz "Get It Together" debuted in 1997. Seven years later he released this more R&B flavored CD, "Deeper".
He's got a soft, almost airy, falsetto voice and some tracks even have a retro soul feel ala Curtis Mayfield, one of his musical heroes (along with Marvin and Smokey).
Warning: Grab somebody or something and hold on tight when listening to track #3 "I'll Come To You" with the hook ".. no no, go slow, ly back, I'll come to you". You've been warned, LOL.
